James McGhee

BERNIE - James Glen McGhee, 82, formerly of Poplar Bluff and Piggott, Ark., died Jan. 24, 2003, at St. Joseph Health Care in St. Charles.

Born March 7, 1920, at Piggott, son of the late Guy and Ida Boyd McGhee, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Piggott and was a carpenter before retiring.

Survivors include: three sons, Glen Edward McGhee of O'Fallon, Mike Eugene McGhee of Defiance and Jeffrey Lynn McGhee of St. Charles; one daughter, Jannette Phillips of Defiance; one brother, W.T. McGhee of Poplar Bluff; five sisters, Alma Daugherty and Ruby Jane Batson of Poplar Bluff and Mary Ruth Cordova, Billie Jean Wicknor and Wanda Lee Tressler of Grants Pass, Ore.; and 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were one son, Darrell Ray McGhee; two brothers, Evan McGhee and Laymon Lee McGhee; and one sister, Zelza McGhee.

Services were conducted Sunday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie with the Rev. Clifford Wray officiating.

Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery.
