NEW MADRID - Clyde E. "Barney" Kimball, 91, died Jan. 25, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare in New Madrid.
Born Jan. 26, 1911, in New Madrid, son of the late James "Barney" and Myrtle Fisher Kimball, he served with the Portageville Fire Department and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Portageville. Kimball also served on the New Madrid Fire Department, New Madrid Police Department and the New Madrid County Sheriff's Department. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was a used furniture dealer in New Madrid.
On April 17, 1941, at Caruthersville, he married Lillian Ruth Spencer who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three sons, John P. Smith of Jefferson City, Joseph John Kimball of Phoenix, Ariz., and Thomas Paul Kimball of New Madrid; one daughter, Carol Bixler of New Madrid; and 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Carl Kimball, Jess "Toby" Kimball, Willard Leslie "Jake" Kimball and Johnny Kimball.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Richards Funeral Home, where a rosary is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Mosnignor Mike Swalina officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
