DOGWOOD -- Charles E. Johnson, 65, died at 7:35 a.m. Feb. 16, 2003, at his residence.
Born March 10, 1937, in Wyatt, son of the late Ben Edward and Bonnie Pearl Barber Johnson, he lived his entire life in Mississippi County where he retired from the MFA Oil Co.
On Dec. 23, in 1954, he married Mary G. Slayden who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Charles E. Johnson Jr. of Dogwood and Timothy L. Johnson of Mandeville, La.; one daughter, Rose R. "Becky" Carlyle of Dogwood; one brother, James R. Johnson of Ironton; two sisters, Minnie Pennebaker of Dazy and Linda Midkiff of Red Bud; five grandchildren, Bo Bryant, Derrick Johnson, Chris Harden, Angela Manning and Jake Johnson; four great-grandchildren, Rebecca Harden, Clay Bryant, Madelynn Johnson and Katie Manning; and several nieces and nephews, including Brittany Phillips of East Prairie.
One daughter, two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Mike Cartwright officiated.
Burial followed in the Dogwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Shawn Midkiff, Jason Bryant, Wesley Manning, Jimmy Garner, Gene Cade and Ronnie Moreland.
