SIKESTON - Charles Graham, who was inducted two weeks ago, has been assigned to the Navy and is now in training at Farragut, Idaho.

SIKESTON - Harold Vogel, administrative assistant at the Sikeston Public Schools, and in charge of the vocational training program, told the Lions Club Wednesday noon at the Country Club, the programs may increase from the present 700 to 800 students and adults, to more than 4,000.

CHARLESTON - Working with Gov. Christopher Bond's staff the past 14 months has been rewarding and interesting to 1979 Charleston High School graduate Jeffrey Byrne, 24. The Charleston native has been working as an assistant to the governor since graduating from the University of Missouri in 1983 with a degree in political science.

SIKESTON - As Christmas draws closer, many children eagerly await the arrival of Santa. Yet, some don't believe in Santa because they have never had reason to - they sit cold, lonely and hungry on Christmas day. Sikeston residents are making an effort to make a difference in the lives of their fellow citizens. Through donations to the Community Christmas Campaign, children and adults will not be forced to go hungry or be forgotten on Christmas day.


CHARLESTON - Scott and Mississippi County Sheriff's Departments, the Missouri Highway Patrol, Semo Drug Task Force and police departments in the area combined efforts Tuesday in making drug related arrests in both counties. The arrests were the result of undercover investigations and indictments handed down previously by a grand jury.
