Thursday, January 30, 2003

SIKESTON - The Sikeston freshman basketball team improved to 8-3 on the season with a 60-37 win against Notre Dame on Wednesday at the Field House.

The Bulldogs dominated the game in every aspect, opening up an 11-0 lead after one quarter of play.

The Bulldogs extended the lead to 30-15 by halftime and they led 45-26 heading into the fourth quarter.

"We came out and scored pretty quick and got them down," said Sikeston coach Chris Sarakas. "We just turned it up the second half. Our defense played well. Everybody got to play and they played hard. It's a good win for us. Everybody's been working hard so they deserved it."

Twelve different players scored for the Bulldogs.

Rodriguez Moore led the way with 10 points. Trey Spence and Jeremy Conley both followed up with eight points each.

Notre Dame was led by Kirk Boeller with 12 points and Alex Ressel with nine points.

Sikeston will host the Twin Rivers 9th grade team on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
