DEXTER - Lester C. Shell, 82, died Feb. 3, 2003, at Cypress Point Health Care.
Born Aug. 25, 1920, at McGee, son of the late Noah Winchester and Martha Whitener Shell, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter. He served with the U.S. Navy in World War II and retired as a cable repairman for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Shell was a member of the Kenady-Hanks American Legion Post 59 and had been involved with the Boy Scouts of America.
On July 5, 1946, at Lutesville, he married Maxine Speer who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, David Shell of Washington, Mo.; two daughters, Brenda Dowdy of Dexter and Angela Kiersey of Warrensburg; one sister, Letty Bess of Advance; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leslie Shell and an infant brother; and one sister, Lois Lee.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Wayne Dismuke will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
