EAST PRAIRIE - Agnes Sumner Wilburn died at 8:50 a.m. Feb. 4, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born in Cadiz, Ky., daughter of the late Durwood Floyd and Lillie Jane Thomas Sumner, she was a teacher in East Prairie for 32 years before retiring. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught the adult ladies Sunday school class and a church training class for young children. She was also a member of the Thomas and Bridges Association and the James Thomas Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, both in Trigg County, Ky.
On Nov. 24, 1958, she married Roy Wilburn who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Jane Conner of Germantown, Tenn.; one sister, Louise S. Thomas of Cadiz, Ky.; one granddaughter, Carole Lynne Conner of Memphis, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews, including Stephanie Vaughn Merideth of Cadiz and Jennifer Vaughn of Louisville, Ky.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond Sumner, Thomas Sumner and Eugene Sumner.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home.
Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. Thursday until service time at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in East Prairie. The Rev. George White will officiate.
Friends may also call from 1:30 p.m. Thursday until service time at 3 p.m. at the Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz.
Burial will follow in the Starkie-Thomas Cemetery near Cadiz.
Pallbearers will be: Steve Douglas, Buddy Dunn, Gene Hall, Frank Bourland and Carl Simpkins.
