Your view: Sikeston proud

Monday, December 6, 2004

We would like to take this opportunity to tell you how proud we are of the Sikeston Community for their generous support of our recent projects.

Our Make A Difference Day project was set after it was brought to our attention that there was a need for school supplies for children who were entering our area shelters. Altrusa coordinated the collection effort for these supplies and with the support of area churches, businesses, Scout troops and many individuals, collected enough supplies to fill 100 backpacks for children in the first through fourth grades, and then some. We wanted you to know what a difference you made in the lives of these children. Thank you.

Our annual fund-raiser, O' Christmas Tree, enables Altrusa to continue its financial support of the Sikeston House of Refuge, as well as our many literacy projects such as the GED graduation reception and scholarship, reading and then donating books to all the children in the Sikeston Kindergarten Center and our ASTRA scholarship. We also donate hundreds of gift bags to area nursing home residents in December and send Valentine wishes to area residents who have lost loved ones, have been ill or just need a lift in February. None of these projects could be possible without the financial support and kindness of the people of Sikeston and the surrounding area. Thank you.

Thanks to each and every one of you who have helped us over the years with gifts of time, talent or treasure. The members of Altrusa International Inc. of Sikeston look forward to serving Sikeston and the surrounding communities for many years to come.

Thank You.

The grateful members of Altrusa International Inc. of Sikeston
