The Lady Bearcats won the game 59-36, but lost point guard Hannah Burleson midway through the first quarter with an ankle injury.
Burleson came into the game averaging 12 points, four assists and five rebounds per game. Her status is day to day.
"(Burleson) keeps us together with her speed and her defense," said Dexter head coach Gavin Miller. "She always gets the steal and takes care of the ball for us. We played a very good game, despite losing her early. We're happy to get back in the win column."
With Burleson out of the lineup, Dexter moved Amy Rose to point.
The move didn't seem to phase her as she hit three 3-pointers and led the Lady Bearcats with 15 points overall. Post players Rachel Blunt and Katie Dunlap also had big games, scoring 12 points each.
Dexter got off to a slow start, holding a 9-7 lead after the first period. The Lady Bearcats rolled from there though, outscoring Portageville 16-5 in the second quarter, 18-11 in the third, then 16-13 in the fourth.
Portageville was led by Ashley Brown with 16 points.
Dexter (16-4) will play at Scott Central on Thursday.
