CHARLESTON -- Kelly's girls basketball team had little problem with Charleston on Monday night, rolling to a 52-23 victory.

The Lady Hawks outscored Charleston 11-7 in the first quarter, 16-2 in the second, 9-8 in the third, then 16-6 in the fourth.

Kelly Essner led the Lady Hawks with 21 points, followed by Cara Scherer with nine and Dana Essner with eight.

Dre-Elle Mathis paced the Lady Bluejays with nine.

"We are very pleased with the effort," said Kelly head coach Rod McQuerter. "The girls came out and played hard against a very good basketball team."

Kelly (13-4) will host Puxico on Friday night.
