POPLAR BLUFF - Ralph E. Byrum, 93, died Feb. 4, 2003, at his home.

Born Jan. 25, 1910, in Jenny Lind, Ark., son of the late Jim and Lucy Mahoney Byrum, he lived in St. Louis for 56 years before moving to Poplar Bluff in 1982. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he retired from General Motors and attended Temple Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff.

On June 10, 1939, in St. Louis, he married Fay Shull who preceded him in death on Dec. 11, 1993.

He is survived by a special friend, Tresa Stroud of Poplar Bluff; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were conducted at 1 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico with the Rev. Jimmy Gilbert of Poplar Bluff, officiating.

The SEMO Veterans Honor Guard of Poplar Bluff conducted graveside military rites at the Puxico Cemetery.
