St. Louis man is sentenced

Tuesday, February 4, 2003

CAPE GIRARDEAU - A St. Louis man was sentenced to prison for possessing cocaine base with intent to distribute in Sikeston.

Jason M. Warfield, 23, was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court to 120 months in federal prison on felony count of possession with intent to distribute five grams of cocaine base.

On March 15, 2002, Sikeston Department of Public Safety officers served a search warrant at 111 Branum in Sikeston. Warfield was a passenger in a vehicle parked on the premises at the time the warrant was served.

When officers ordered Warfield to place his hands on his head, he was observed reaching into his coat pocket and removing a clear plastic bag containing 17.94 grams of "crack" cocaine. Warfield admitted he intended to distribute the cocaine base.

The Sikeston Department of Public Safety and the Drug Enforcement administration were praised for their work on the case.
