Sunday, February 9, 2003

SIKESTON -- New Madrid County Central picked up its seventh victory of the season Friday night, cruising past Scott County Central, 85-59.

The Eagles jumped out to a 24-14 lead and never looked back, outscoring the Braves 14-9 in the second quarter, 23-15 in the third, then 24-21 in the fourth.

Michael Rose led the way with 18 points, followed by Jordan Kimball with 17 and Mack Kimble with 15.

For Scott Central, Chris Pullen scored 19. Matt Holman contributed 11.

NMCC (7-13) will host Jackson on Friday night while Scott Central (9-12) hosts Risco on Tuesday.

EAST PRAIRIE -- The Scott City Rams jumped right back on the winning track Friday night, beating East Prairie on the road, 80-46.

D.J. Walton led the Rams with 19 points and Jeremy Schlosser finished with 18. Andy Beck and Tyler Ward each contributed 10 in the win.

For East Prairie, Matt Boyer scored 18, Jordan Sanders added 13 and Anthony Smith contributed 10.

The Eagles (6-12) will travel to Portageville on Tuesday.

RISCO -- The Risco Tigers played their last home game of the season Friday night and continued their winning ways with a 73-46 victory over the Richland Rebels. It was the Tigers' sixth win in a row and their 11th win on the season.

Seniors Greg Landers and Luke Carter really stepped up for Risco with 27 and 21 points respectively.

The two teams played evenly in the first quarter, but an effective full-court press by Risco in the second period put the Rebels in a hole from which they could not recover. From that point, Risco never lost the lead.

For Richland, Scott McGarity led the way with 21 points.
