PORTAGEVILLE -- Kathy Mattingly of Sikeston and Terry Mattingly of Portageville have announced the engagement of their daughter, Cynthia Lynn, to Robert Gregory Beason of Dyersburg, Tenn., son of Robert and Jo Beason of Steele, Ala.

The future bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Corgan of Sikeston, Vonrey Mattingly of Portageville and the late Don Mattingly. A graduate of Portageville High School, she earned a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Southeast Missouri State University at Cape Girardeau and is an elementary teacher for the Pemiscot County R-3 School District.

Her fiance is the grandson of Vesta Smith and Inez Beason of Steele and the late Cecil Smith and Guy Beason. A graduate of Ashville (Ala.) High School, he earned a bachelor of mechanical engineering degree from Auburn (Ala.) University and is employed by Noranda Aluminum in New Madrid County.

Wedding plans are being finalized for a March 29 ceremony at the First Baptist Church in Portageville.
