CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Two area high school football players signed letters of intent on national signing day Wednesday.
Cape Central running back and defensive back Monroe Hicks committed to Central Missouri State, while Jackson defensive lineman Matt McComas signed on to play for Southeast Missouri State.
Hicks was a first team all-state defensive back this season, recording 70 tackles with five interceptions, two forced fumbles, five tackles for loss and one safety.
He guided the Tigers to a 10-2 record this season, where they finished ranked No. 4 in Class 4.
McComas (6-5, 250) was a first team all-conference and first team all-region defensive end for the Indians this season.
