"I thought we wrestled with a lot more aggression tonight," said Sikeston coach Chris Hodgkiss. "This is the type of attitude we need going into districts."
The Bulldogs forfeited the 103 and 112 divisions to Bluff's Eddie Merchant and Jacob Ford. At 112, Adam Miller defeated Bluff's Matt Boyers 16-4.
In the 125 weight class, Cody Ryan pinned Bluff's Matt Shelton in 2:15. At 130, Shawn Cooper was pinned by Bluff's Shawn Wrinkle in 1:07.
In the 135 class, Kyle Weeks defeated Bluff's Patrick Krishna by a score of 7-6. At 140, Cody Weeks pinned Bluff's Jessie Rodgers in 1:27.
In the 145 division, Tony Reynolds was pinned by Bluff's Chuck Hampton in 1:47. At 152, Lance Berry lost a 6-3 decision to Bluff's Chris Cookson.
In the 160 class, Ken Masegian was pinned by Bluff's Ryan Godwin in 28 seconds. At 171, Scotty Keenan pinned Bluff's Kyle Lueke in 2:34.
At 189, Malcolm Williams pinned Bluff's Parker Williams in 1:13. In the 215 and heavyweight divisions, Andy Croxford and Joe Johnson won by forfeit.
"We wrestled well up and down the lineup," said Hodgkiss. "This was one of the best team wins we've had this year. Everybody came out fired up and wrestled aggressive."
Sikeston (3-2) will be back in action tonight, hosting New Madrid County Central at 6:30 p.m.
In Tuesday's junior varsity match, Poplar Bluff defeated Sikeston 30-18. Sikeston winners were Trey Oetting (145), Cullen Looney (152) and Zach Casey (171).
