CHARLESTON -- Bernice Mary Keen, 72, died at 8:14 a.m. Nov. 3, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born March 26, 1930, in the Texas Bend community, daughter of the late Bernard Joseph and Louise Renaud Bruenderman, she lived in Charleston most of her life, where she was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella. She was a cook for St. Henry Catholic School until her retirement in 1995.

On April 10, 1951, she married Charles Curtis Keen who preceded her in death on Nov. 29, 1994.

Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Carol Keen of Jackson and Randy and Danita Keen of Charleston; six daughters and five sons-in-law, Brenda and Albert Ketterer of Milton, Fla., Denise and Mike Ray of East Prairie, Mary Gail and Lester Gates of Sikeston, Phyllis and Herman Schwartz of Benton and Rebecca Keen and Tina and Stephen Ahlfield of St. Charles; two brothers, Raymond Bruenderman of Cape Girardeau and Bernard "Buddy" Bruenderman of Wilsonville, Ore., one sister, Mary Lou Newcomb of rural Charleston; and 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were one son, Dennis Ray Keen; three brothers, Edward Bruenderman, Leo Bruenderman and Robert Bruenderman; and one sister, Marie Hahn.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where prayers will be recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston. The Rev. Gerald Brown, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery near Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Neil Gates, Travis Keen, Brian Ray, Justin Keen, Joe Ketterer and Chuck Ketterer.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Jason Liley, Christina Kolze, Stephanie Ray, Alisha Turley, Kyle Chipman, Dustin Schwartz, Drew Keen, Keenan Ahlfield, Dylan Schwartz and Garrett Ahlfield.
