SIKESTON - Forty bales of cotton and a cotton trailer were razed early Friday morning when fire destroyed a cotton storage platform at Trailback Plantation near Essex. The structure and agriculture produce were the property of S.W. Barton of Sikeston.

SIKESTON - Pvt. Herbert Kindred had telephoned Mrs. W.J. Kindred of near Sikeston that he is in Camp Van Dorn, Miss., doing postal work for his company.

CHARLESTON - Mr. and Mrs. Donnie McDermott are the parents of a baby boy born at 12:32 p.m. Wednesday at Missouri Delta Community Hospital in Sikeston.

SIKESTON - The 1982 Sikeston High School Red Pepper King and his court were Jimmy Lincoln, king; Paul Hinze, Dennis Sanders and Tim Thomure.

SIKESTON - Stressing a commitment to the people, Missouri Delta Medical Center's Administrator Charles Ancell presented an update on the facility's major projects to members of the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce at Thursday's luncheon. "Our facility belongs to all of us," Ancell said. "We like to show what we have to offer to the public."

SIKESTON - Americans are living in the Decade of the Brain, as proclaimed by President George Bush. The July 1990 proclamation had a rather different ring to it, but neurosurgeons were thrilled. Thanks to the Decade of the Brain, MDMC will host the Second Annual Neuro-Science Seminar from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

SIKESTON - Excited children of all ages came to Sikeston's Kingsway Mall Saturday to see Santa Claus arrive from the North Pole.
