SIKESTON - Dr. Thomas C. McClure has retired after 43 years of serving the people of Sikeston and surrounding area as a general practitioner. His office was officially closed Wednesday evening.

CHARLESTON - Charleston coach Lennies McFerren won't lack experience when his boys' basketball team takes the floor Dec. 4. Charleston has four returning starters: Hardy Crawford, Eric Kellum, Michael Morris and Maurice Hope. The Jays went 20-12 last season and finished fourth in the Missouri 3A tournament.

MORLEY - Even after a lopsided loss to Scott County Central, Bell City coach Carl Ritter found some satisfaction. "We won the JV game, and anytime you win any game at Scott Central, that's something," said Ritter after Friday's contests. The junior Cubs' 55-50 overtime win didn't set the tone for the rest of the night. Their varsity counterparts fell behind 24-9 after one quarter, and the hosts piled up a 100-37 win.
