HAYTI -- Hayti is just one win away from playing on the St. Louis Rams' home field.
The Indians qualified for the Class 1 semifinals by clobbering Tipton in Monday's quarterfinal round, 44-21.
Hayti fell behind early as Tipton's Garet Uptergrove scored on a 66-yard TD run in the first quarter. Torey Nelson tied the score with a nine yard TD, only to see Uptergrove score his second TD later in the quarter to make it 13-6.
From that point, it was all Hayti. The Indians rattled off 38 unanswered points in the second and third quarters. They saw three touchdown runs from Nelson and Jason Covington.
Three TD catches came from Danny Mack, Llewellyn Borders and Covington.
Tipton added another touchdown late in the fourth quarter to make the final score 44-21.
Nelson finished with 140 yards on 18 carries. Covington had 78 yards on 13 attempts. QB Pete Peterson threw for 173 yards on 7-of-12 passing with two TDs. Brian Lacey also threw a TD pass and had 24 yards passing on two completions.
Covington had two catches for 83 yards. William Moore had three catches for 55 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, Danny Mack had 11 tackles and Antonio Robinson had 10.
Hayti will travel to Ash Grove (11-1) on Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. game.
