CHARLESTON - Lucille Presson Cox, 88, died at 7:20 p.m. Nov. 22, 2002, at the Bertrand Retirement Facility.
Born June 4, 1914, in Mississippi County, daughter of the late Earl and Irene Jackson Presson, she had lived in Mississippi County her entire life and was an active member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Children's Sunday School for years. She taught business classes at Charleston High School until her retirement and was a Girl Scout leader for many years.
On May 31, 1936, she married Manford Henry Cox who preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 1990.
Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Lanie Black of Charleston and Sue and Ed Daugherty of Carmel, Ind.; and five grandchildren, Lt. L.G. Black, J.J. Black of Charleston, Shannon Daugherty Kennedy of Rockvale, Tenn., Colleen Daugherty and Erin Daugherty of Carmel; and three great-grandchildren, Clayton Kennedy, Colleen Kennedy and Carson Kennedy of Rockvale.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at McMikle Funeral Home where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Gerald Collier, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Charleston, officiating.
Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery.
