Born May 16, 1943, in Charleston, son of the late Joseph Lee and Vera Louvie Harris, he was a U.S. Army veteran and had been a truck driver.
He married Carolyn LaComb who preceded him in death.
Survivors include: two sons, Robert Gene Harris Jr. of Boston, Mass., and Johnny Lee Harris of Panama City, Fla.; one daughter, Kimberly Ann Harris of Hickory, N.C.; one brother, Billy Joe Harris of Jackson; two sisters, Melba Jeanette Whitney of Macon, N.C., and Sheila Kay Clark of Sikeston; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at noon Saturday at Ponder Funeral Home.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston with the Rev. Samuel Bowles officiating and where full military graveside rites will be conducted.
Pallbearers will be: Ed Ward Bowles Jr., Stan Harris, John Layton, Rick Roberson and Tony Roberson.
