(Top)Sikeston Parks Department employee Chad Towe reaches down to catch a duck at the Sikeston Sports Complex Thursday afternoon. The duck was stuck in the frozen lake at the complex. With joint effort from the Sikeston Animal Control and the Sikeston Parks Department the duck was rescued and taken to an area veterinarian.

(Second photo) Towe holds the duck to show how ice had formed all over the duck's body.

Animal Control Officer Ken Fowler released the duck back at the complex Friday after it has been deiced with warm water, fed and boarded in a warm cage for the night. Fowler said they have had to rescue several iced birds over the last few years.
