ESSEX - Lynn Collins, 69, died Dec. 27, 2004, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center at Poplar Bluff.
Born Feb. 25, 1935, at Advance, to the late Robert Collins and Ada Nevels Collins, he was a former employee with Oak View Construction. He resided in Granite City, Ill., before moving to Essex.
In 1963, in Granite City, he married Betty Scarborough, who preceded him in death on June 29, 1996. On July 26, 1997, at Anna, Ill., he married Brenda Carter, who survives of the home.
In addition to his wife he is survived by five sons, Jeff Collins of Houston, Texas, Kenneth Collins of Jacksonville, Fla., Raymond Stuart of Granite City, Travis Collins of Orlando, Fla., and Shane Sweet of Anna; nine daughters, Linda Zimmerman of Peoria, Ill., Laura Jean Bartow of Hahira, Ga., Kathy Hart of St. Louis, Vickie Walton of Edwardsville, Ill., Nita Stubbs of Phoenix, Deanna Childers and Sue Belcher of Dexter, Jeannie McCord of Mt. Vernon, Ind., and Shanna Kristoff of Anna; two sisters, Dorothy Dickerson of Grassy and Helen Collins of Cahokia, Ill.; and 35 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Besides his first wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernis and Clarence Collins, and one sister, Norma Revelle.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter and from 11 a.m. until time for services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Word of Life Tabernacle Church in Granite City. The Rev. Henry Crippen will officiate.
Burial will follow at the Lake View Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Belleville, Ill.
