DEXTER - ElFreda "Susie" Cox, 52, died March 24, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born Jan. 28, 1956, at Poplar Bluff, to the late Floyd "Peanuts" and Marjorie Fellows Cox Sr., she was a member of Sweet Prospect General Baptist Church in Dexter. She was a former employee of the Puxico Press and a photojournalist with the North Stoddard Countian Newspaper. She also was the secretary for the Liberty Sunday School General Baptist Association and the the president of the Bloomfield Lions Club.

Survivors include: two sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and William Nelson and Cathy and Gary Starnes of Dexter; one brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Sunnye Cox Jr. of De Bary Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Cox of Bernie and Ruth Cox of Lexington, Ky.; and three special nieces, April Wamble, Ashley Starnes and Amber Starnes of Dexter.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Leslie F. Cox, Morris Leroy Cox and B.J. Cox; and one nephew, Dwane Owens.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Kevin Eskew officiating.

Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
