BENTON -- Notre Dame's boys basketball team used a hot-shooting second half to pull away from Kelly and grab a 79-60 victory in a makeup game on the road Saturday night.

The Hawks (7-6) used a 14-point first-half performance from Chris Romas to grab a 31-29 halftime lead. Romas and Trey Simmons combined for 26 of Kelly's 31 first-half points.

The Bulldogs (11-5) came out strong in the third quarter and grabbed the lead right away. At the end of three quarters the Bulldogs had raced to a 55-41 lead.

Wayne Essner led the Bulldogs with 24 points. Cory Buessink added 14 points. Romas led the Hawks with 28 points, and Simmons finished with 15.

In semifinal games postponed from Thursday, top seeds Delta and Kelly advanced to Wednesday's championship game.

No. 1 Delta (12-1), used a big fourth quarter to fend off a pesky Charleston squad 44-31. Rebecca Below led Delta with 14 points. Rebecca Cook added 13 for the Bobcats.

In the other semifinal game No. 2 Kelly (9-4) used three double-digit scorers to defeat the Bravettes 47-36. Dana Essner led Kelly with 12 points. Christy Kluessner and Cara Scherer had 10 apiece for the Hawks. Jennifer Hoots led Scott County Central with 13 points.
