ORAN - The Kelly girls basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the Scott-Mississippi Conference Tournament on Wednesday with a 64-31 win against Chaffee at Oran High School.

The Lady Hawks got a big game from Kelly Essner, who led all scorers with 25 points, including three 3-pointers.

Cara Scherer followed up with 16 points and Dana Essner added 14 points.

"We're very proud with how the girls came out," said Kelly head coach Rod McQuerter. "They played hard and played as a team and it's a good win against a quality opponent like Chaffee. Kelly got some points tonight, but the other girls had to get her the ball to do that. I'm just very proud with the way all the girls played."

Kelly (8-4) plays Scott County Central tonight at 9 p.m. in the tournament.

In other tournament action, Delta (11-1) defeated East Prairie 86-24.

The Lady Bobcats, playing without star forward Rebecca Below due to illness, dominated the game.

Delta led 41-17 at the half and made sure no comeback was in store as they out-scored the Lady Eagles 45-7 in the second half.

Delta was led by Sarah M. Cook's 24 points and Rebecca Cook's 20 points. Becky Rozmirsky followed up with 16 points.

Delta will play Charleston tonight at 7:30 p.m.
