DEXTER - Genevieve "Jeanie" Stephens, 64, died Jan. 14, 2003, at her home.
Born Dec. 26, 1938, in Miami, Ariz., daughter of the late Maurice Edgar Carpenter of Chino, Calif., and the late Anselma Gil Carpenter, she lived in St. Louis before moving to Dexter in 1980. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and was a sales clerk for Jimmy's Jewelry and More.
On July 15, 1956, in Lodi, Calif., she married Thomas J. Stephens who survives of the home.
Survivors in addition to her husband and father include: two sons, Joe Stephens of O'Fallon and Chuck Stephens of Dexter; two daughters, Roxanne Ashby of DeBary, Fla., and Dollie Stoner of Dexter; one brother, Victor Ruiz of Topeka, Kan.; one sister, Linda Belasco of San Diego, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.
One brother, Arthur Ruiz, preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Keith Garland of Dexter will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
