DUDLEY - A Stoddard County man and a former Dexter resident were killed in two seperate automobile accidents on Monday.
Steven R. Brown, of Dudley, was killed Monday night when his vehicle ran off the road and overturned in a pond.
According to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, the accident occurred as Brown, 32, was driving south on Stoddard County Route WW, five miles north Dudley. His vehicle ran off the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned in a farm pond.
Brown was pronounced dead at the scene by acting Stoddard County Coroner Greg Mathis.
Rebekah Hughes, a former Southeast Missouri resident, also died Monday from a multiple-vehicle accident in North St. Louis County.
According to the Hazelwood Police Department, Hughes, 25, of Florissant died of injuries sustained in a five-vehicle accident reported at 4:48 p.m. Monday in the 6100 block of Lindbergh Boulevard in St. Louis County. Four other persons were taken by ambulance to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
According to the police department, investigation into the cause of the accident is still under way and names of injured victims have not been released.
