MALDEN - Ada Furlong, 87, died Sept. 28, 2004, at the Malden Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born Oct. 6, 1916, in Matthews, daughter of the late Luther and Annie Dockins Deane, she lived in Southeast Missouri all her life and had lived in Malden since 1965 and was of the Methodist belief. She had worked in the Malden School Head Start, social aide and in the cafeteria and had also worked at the Ridgeview Manor Nursing Home in Malden and Green Meadows Nursing Home in Dexter. Mrs. Furlong lived for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On May 21, 1933, at Matthews, she married John Furlong who preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 1964.
Survivors include: one son, Charles Furlong of Malden; four grandchildren, Kenny Baur and Pam Schmidt of Festus, John Furlong of St. Louis and Teresa "Teri" Rush of Magnolia, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Douglas Rush, Sara Rush, Jonathan Baur and Corey Schmidt; and other relatives and many friends.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Louie "Buddy Deane, Lee "Buck" Deane and Louis H. Deane; and four sisters, Marie Mize, Mary Ashbaugh, Martha Ann Berkenmeyier and Lucy Brown.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Anthony Dowdy of Malden will officiate.
Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
