Sunday, December 22, 2002

CLARKTON - Risco's Tigers took fourth place in the Clarkton Holiday Tournament Friday night as they fell to Gideon's Bulldogs 80-59.

The Bulldogs slowly took a lead and on a trey by Brandon Ashabranner as Gideon pulled to a 9-4 lead.

Things never would get better for Risco, although senior Greg Landers scored eight points in the frame, it was nearly futile to Gideon's Chris Woodall who dropped in 15 points.

Although the Tigers began by swapping blows with Gideon, the Tigers couldn't keep the pace long as Woodall came alive and scored five points in the final three minutes to give the Bulldogs a 49-32 lead at the half.

Gideon's Blake Davis stuck in three baskets in the third period to once again lengthen Gideon's lead to 63-45.

Risco's Luke Carter and Gideon's Davis began a shooting contest in the final frame, but Davis would get the better as he outscored Carter 7-4. Davis missed four free throws along the way.

Gideon held the ball for the last minute and held onto the lead at 80-59.
