SIKESTON - When her daughter was just a few months old, Barbara Schuchart took her into a pool. Carefully, she loosened her grip on the infant. That's when little Jennifer started to swim. The next year, she made it across the pool. When she was 6, she joined the Sikeston swim team. Now, 19 years old, Jennifer Schuchart is a freshman at the University of Missouri-Columbia and swims on the Division I school's team. Schuchart is the only Sikeston native in over a decade to not only make the team, but thrive on it.
