EAST PRAIRIE -- Billy Max Owens, 62, died Jan. 4, 2003, at his home.
Born March 20, 1940, in East Prairie, son of Alpha Gladys Archer Owens of East Prairie and the late Willie Swank Owens, he lived in East Prairie all his life. He was a mechanic for Delta New Holland near East Prairie and member of the First Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge 407 in Charleston.
On Sept. 7, 1974, in East Prairie, he married Peggy Sue Cummins who survives of the home.
Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include: one son, Danny Joe Owens of Mineral Point; one daughter, Sandra Lynn Hutcheson of East Prairie; one sister, Janna Sue Clift of Riverdale, Calif.; and five grandsons, Chad Hutcheson, Cory Hutcheson and Cody Hutcheson of East Prairie and Ethan Owens and Colton Owens of Mineral Point.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home, where Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 p.m.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Dale Billingsley and Ernest Brown officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
Pallbearers will be: Larry Riggins, Eddie Stockman, Richard Haney, Donnie Haney, John T. Ray and James Haines.
