SHS netters post shutout

POPLAR BLUFF - The Sikeston tennis team posted its fourth straight shutout with a 9-0 victory against Poplar Bluff on Monday.

It's the second time in a week that the Bulldogs have defeated the Mules.

None of the matches were close as the Bulldogs posted four shutouts.

"We played well again," said Sikeston head coach Brian James. "We've been playing pretty well lately. You've always got to be happy when you can win on the road."

In singles, Stephen Pobst beat Yousef Haiderzaad 8-1; Adam Hahs beat Nathan Killpack 8-2; Ryne Vickery beat Drew Schuermann 8-0; Peter Jones beat Jarrett Killpack 8-0; Marc Leible beat Chad Reed 8-1; and Chris Robey beat Andrew Harper 8-1. In doubles Pobst/Hahs beat Haiderzaad/Killpack 8-0; Vickery/Jones beat Schuermann/Killpack 8-0; and Leible/Robey beat Reed/Harper 8-1.

Sikeston also swept through the junior varsity 8-0. Winners were Aaron Senter, Ben Jones, Kyle Weeks, Ryan Davis, Kyle Howard, Ryan Dukes and Michael LaPlant.

The Bulldogs will host Kennett on Thursday.
