Erma Combs

PORTAGEVILLE - Erma Combs, 87, of Portageville Route 1, died April 18, 2002, at the Portageville Nursing Center.

Born Oct. 18, 1914, in Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Eva Corneliusen Davenport.

She and John William Combs were married in Piggott, Ark., and he preceded her in death on March 19, 1982.

Survivors include: three sons, Johnnie Combs and Isaac Combs of Portageville and Steve Combs of Oak Forest, Ill.; eight daughters, Mary Galreau of Detroit, Mich., Josephine King of Cherry, Ill., Pearlie White of Lebanon, Ill., Shirley Thurman of Peru, Ill., Pat Camper of Chesapeake, Va., Wilma Kincade of Billings, Leona Low of Urbana and Elaine Brown of Paragould, Ark.; three brothers, Porter Davenport of Beech Bluff, Tenn., Alvin Davenport of Charlotte, Tenn., and Calvin Davenport of Alabama; two sisters, Irene Platte of Charlotte and Cleta Gronbach of Princeton, Ill.; and 22 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Isaac Davenport, John Davenport, Doug Davenport and Ray Davenport; and one sister, Ann Hewitt.

Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Cheshire officiating.

Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
