CHARLESTON - John Allen McMikle, 44, died at 12:50 p.m. April 18, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Dec. 2, 1957, in Sikeston, son of Elgin and Sue Allen McMikle of Charleston, he lived in Charleston most of his life and graduated in 1976 from Charleston High School. A graduate of the Mid-America College of Funeral Service in Jefferson, Ind., he had been associated with the family business, McMikle Funeral Home, as an embalmer and funeral director. He was a member of the Charleston Church of Christ and Charleston Masonic Lodge 407 AF&AM and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

On June 6, 1976, he married Debbie Griggs who survives of Charleston.

He and Carla Sue Cates were married Sept. 4, 1999, and she survives of the home.

Survivors in addition to his wife and parents include: three sons, Joshua Adam McMikle of Granite City, Ill., Nelson Andrew McMikle of Charleston and Bryant Steven Welsh of the home; one daughter, Jenni-Claire McMikle of the home; and one sister, Mary Katherine Branum of Charleston.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday. Bill Bradley, minister of the Morley Church of Christ, and the Rev. Gerald Collier, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Charleston, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Bernie Roach, Bruce Roach, Stan McMikle, Lewis Jon McMikle, Todd Cates, Cory Cates, Scott Riley and Anthony Moody.
