PORTAGEVILLE - Paul Durbin, 91, died Dec. 8, 2004, at his home.
Born Oct. 4, 1913, in Holcomb, son of the late Duraney F. and Henrietta Fairchild Durbin, he was a service tech airborne engineer in the 871st Engineers Aviation Battalion with the U.S. Army in World War II. A recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Philippine Liberation Ribbon, he was a self-employed carpenter and member of St. Eustachius Catholic Church in Portageville.
On Oct. 2, 1950, at Illmo, he married Billie Jean Fairchild who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Michael P. Durbin and John M. Durbin of Portageville; three daughters, Patricia A. Laws of Scott City, Linda C. Burns of Danville, Ky., and Rebecca M. Call of Portageville; one sister, Ann Muller of Portageville; and 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph Howard, Malcolm Ray, William Edward Durbin and David Eugene Durbin; and one sister, Ruth Irene Kesterson.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Eustachius Catholic Church with the Rev. Alan Saunders officiating.
Graveside military rites will be conducted at the Portageville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Steve Russell, Billy Russell, Jackie Young, John McCrate, Bob Carter and James Cates.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Lawrence Kesterson and Gary Call.
