ORAN - Chris F. Trankler, 90, died April 4, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Feb. 22, 1912, at Leopold, son of the late William J. and Mina Brands Trankler, he retired as a self-employed farmer and was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church and St. Joseph Sodality.
On June 7, 1939, in Glennon, he married Agnes Vandermierden who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: eight sons, Henry Trankler, Charles Trankler, George Trankler and David Trankler of Oran, Tee Trankler, Frank Trankler and James Trankler of Jackson and Edwin Trankler of St. Louis; two daughters, Wilma Seyer of Chaffee and Barbara Trankler of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Milford Trankler of St. Peters; one sister, Marie Eftink of Oran; and 23 grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Trankler and Bill Trankler; one sister, Elma Welch; one grandson, Vernon Seyer; and one son-in-law, Ralph Seyer.
Visitation begins at 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, where parish prayers at 7 p.m. will be followed by Knights of Columbus prayers at 7:30 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church with the Rev. John Harth officiating.
Burial will follow in Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery.
