SIKESTON - Mrs. Arden Ellise of Sikeston was awarded a certificate to buy a new car during the second week of April by the rationing board at Benton.

SIKESTON - New Jaycee officers selected for the 1962-63 Junior Chamber of Commerce include Pete Malone, secretary; Don Bohannon, treasurer; Glenn Matthews, second vice president; Keith Ziegenhorn, president; Don Baker, first vice president; Bill Lewis, state representative; and Claude Benny, state representative.

CHARLESTON - The 14th Annual Dogwood-Azalea Festival at Charleston officially began Friday night with selection of the Dogwood-Azalea Queen. Crowned 1982 Dogwood-Azalea Queen was Julie Hutcheson, 16-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carlin Hutcheson of East Prairie. Second runner-up was Marla Lankheit, 15-year-old daughter of Margaret Lankheit of Charleston and Joe Lankheit of Sikeston. Melissa Kohlbaker, 16-year-old daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Charles Kohlbaker of Bertrand was named first runner-up. The winners were selected from 28 contestants ranging in age from 14-18.

SIKESTON - Scott County Central High School students will talk with their counselor, Betty Deardorff, about concerns ranging from college to home life. Because of her concern for her students, she has been named Counselor of the Year by the Southeast Missouri School Counselors Association.


SIKESTON - Five years of dreaming and a year and a half of work will culminate Saturday in "The Gala." The Rev. Flem E. Bronner Sr. is host of the event.
