PUXICO - Wilma Smith, 79, formerly of St. Louis, died April 15, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Sept. 29, 1922, in Dudley, daughter of the late William and Carrie Klaffer, she retired as a manager with Atlantic Mills in St. Louis and was a member of Life Chapel Assembly of God Church in Puxico.
On Sept. 16, 1939, at Fisk, she married Leo Smith who preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 1999.
Survivors include: three sons, Melvin Leroy Smith of St. Louis, Gary Dean Smith of Warrenton and Donald Wayne Smith of Puxico; three sisters, Beulah Cookson, Eva Lois Cookson and Mildred Hobbs of Puxico; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Carrie Juanita Smith; and one brother, Cletus Klaffer.
Visitation begins at 6 p.m. Thursday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. James Cookson of Springfield will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Puxico Cemetery.
