SIKESTON - Leo Brauer Monday took over new duties as advertising manager of the Sikeston Standard, succeeding Roy Wilcox, who returned Saturday to Southwest City, where he is publisher of a weekly newspaper.

SIKESTON - A space capsule identical to the one in which Lt. Col. John Glenn orbited the world was on display in Sikeston for three hours Wednesday night.

SIKESTON - Sikeston attorney Robert A. Dempster, a member of the University of Missouri Board of Curators, presented a check for $100,000 to Kenneth Dement, a member of the Board of Regents at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. The money will be used for a business school at Southeast to be named after Dempster.

SIKESTON - The Cotton Boll Area Girl Scouts Council will host its annual Council Appreciation Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Malden Community Center, Highway 25, Malden. All Girl Scout leaders, volunteers and interested persons are invited to attend.

SIKESTON - Alice Jackson, director of the Sikeston Public Library, recently attended the annual spring conference of MASL, professional library organization. She also attended a post-conference short course presented by the University of Missouri-Columbia on Leadership for Librarians: Strategies for Change.
