Two nabbed in drug raid

Tuesday, March 8, 2005

Christopher Grimes
SIKESTON -- Two Sikeston residents are in custody as part of a drug raid.

Christopher Mark Grimes, 33, and Sabrina Grimes, 27, were charged for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Christopher Grimes' bond is set at $100,000 while Sabrina Grimes' bond is set at $50,000.

According to Department of Public Safety Director Drew Juden, narcotics investigators with DPS along with the Special Operations Group served a search warrant at 715 Greer on Thursday. The warrant authorized officers to search for methamphetamine as well as drug paraphernalia.

During the search, officers seized approximately 6.2 grams of Ice (a high powered, crystallized form of methamphetamine), about 1.6 grams of anhydrous ammonia methamphetamine, less than 35 grams of marijuana and numerous paraphernalia items, such as pipes, burned aluminum foil, baggies and clear plastic straws with residue.

Officers also seized $1,762, of which $1,000 was found in a 12-ounce soda can safe. This type of safe is not a lock type of safe but uses the deception of looking like a real 12-ounce can of soda in hopes of avoiding discovery. The top part of the soda can is fitted to screw on and off so that items can be hidden inside. The can is identical in size and weight of a real 12-ounce can of soda.
