Calvin Bohannon

CHARLESTON - Calvin Lawrence Bohannon, 78, died at 6:50 a.m. Feb. 19, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Nov. 14, 1923, at Dogwood, son of the late Grover Lawrence and Celia Ann Brodhacker Bohannon, he had lived in Charleston for the past 47 years. A retired farmer, he served his community as a Little League Baseball coach, Boy Scout Leader, St. Henry High School basketball timer and most recently on the Calvary Cemetery Board of Directors.

He was a First, Second, Third and Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, serving on several committees and offices and as Grand Knight in 1989. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, where he served many years as a church usher.

On June 27, 1953, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston, he married Wilma Frances Telker who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Larry and Sheila Bohannon of Sikeston; one daughter and son-in-law, Connie Ann and Buddy Reeves of Charleston; three grandsons, Chris Bohannon and Clint Bohannon of Sikeston and Byron Lee Reeves III of Charleston; two godchildren, Nancy Uthoff Leigh of Goldsboro, N.C., and Joey Telker of Tulsa, Okla.; a paternal niece, Sue Patrick Dockins of St. Louis; and several maternal nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Bohannon, Norval Bohannon and J.W. Bohannon; and three sisters, Opal Bohannon, Thelma Bohannon and Mary Patrick.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home, where a prayer service at 7 p.m. will be followed by Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus rites.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Henry Catholic Church with the Rev. James Seyer of Cape Girardeau officiating.

Active pallbearers will be: Mike Telker, Gary Uthoff, Bill Uthoff, Dr. Fred Uthoff, Joey Telker, Clint Bohannon, Chris Bohannon and Byron Lee Reeves III.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Mark Hart, Frank Lee, Doug Simmons and Norbert Rolwing.
