POPLAR BLUFF - For one team, it was the end of an era. for the other, it was one of the biggest wins in history. For Anthony Rodebush, a dream come true. The 6-foot-2 Rodebush sank two free throws with one second on the clock to give Van Buren a 53-52 Class 1A sectional win over Scott County Central Wednesday. The loss marks the first time since 1984 that the Braves failed to reach the Final Four and it ends their seven-year reign as state champs.

SIKESTON - Mayor Bill Burch recently signed a city proclamation which declared the month of March as Disaster Preparedness Month in the City of Sikeston. The proclamation was presented to local emergency management officials.

SIKESTON - Students in Sikeston schools took cover Tuesday morning as they practiced a tornado drill. The drill was conducted statewide as part of the emergency preparedness preparations.
