SIKESTON - Kellett Motor Co. on North Kingshighway closed its doors Monday.

ERITREA, Ethiopia - Martha Schuchart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.P. Schuchart, Route 4, has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel. She is serving in the Women's Army Corps here.

SIKESTON - The Rustic Rock office building was destroyed by fire Tuesday night. Only the rock walls were standing after firemen battled the blaze for four hours. Two firemen were injured in a back draft explosion.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Jaycees announced the stars for this year's Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo at a noon luncheon at the Sikeston country Club. On opening night, rodeo fans will welcome back country singer Tanya Tucker. Entertainers Mark Collie, Mark Chestnutt and Sawyer Brown will take turns filling the stage the rest of the week.


EAST PRAIRIE - For city residents who have been plagued by "red water," relief is on the way as the result of action taken Wednesday by the City Council. Meeting in special session with Water Supervisor Ron Aman and Bud Waters of Waters and Associates, the Council authorized a major overhaul of the city's 20-year-old water treatment plant.


POPLAR BLUFF - Scott Central's press didn't appear to impress Ellington. That was until the second quarter when the Bravettes made a couple of adjustments. They extended their winning streak after a 90-51 rout in Class 1A sectional play.
