MARSTON - Ruby Ellen Curtis Ray, 92, died March 7, 2002, in Caruthersville.
Born Oct. 12, 1909, in Tallapoosa, daughter of the late Rufus Andrew and Adeline Miller Smith, she was a cook for a school before retiring and was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Marston.
Her first husband, Woodrow Curtis, preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 1942. She later married Elbert Ray and he also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two sons, Rufus "Chuck" Curtis and Earl Curtis of Caruthersville; one daughter, Irene Hardy of Caruthersville; five grandchildren, Terry Curtis, Michael Curtis, Kevin Curtis and Lisa Powell of Caruthersville and Rhonda Gardner of Hayti; and 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Also preceding her in death were six brothers, Leroy Smith, Dewey Smith, Ira Smith, Jake Smith, Jessie Smith and Ray Smith; and three sisters, Georgia O'Neil, Dorothy Smith and Pauline Gullette.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid, where services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sunday with Bill Baldwin officiating.
Burial will follow in Mounds Park Cemetery near Lilbourn.
