SIKESTON - George Thadeus Campbell Jr., 63, died at 4:24 p.m. March 6, 2002, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Born June 5, 1938, in Harviell, son of the late George Thadeus and Carrie Mae Grider Campbell Sr., he was raised in Poplar Bluff and lived in St. Louis before moving to Sikeston a year ago. A plant maintenance engineer for the State of Missouri at the Bellfountaine Habilitation Center, he was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. He served as a third class seaman with the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Blockade.
On July 18, 1960, in Sikeston, he married Carolyn "Kay" Newman who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons and one daughter-in-law, William George Campbell and Darren Lee and Jennifer Campbell of St. Louis; two daughters and one son-in-law, Kimberly Ruth and Mark Dussold and Darla Kay Royer of St. Louis; one brother, Edward Morgan of Antioch, Calif.; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Martin of Minocqua, Wis.; and nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Blanchard Funeral Chapel where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Jerry Adams, pastor of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate and Rev. Gary Landbright of Little Rock, Ark. will assist.
Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Mark Dussold, Joe Nessler, Aaron Wood, Eddie Hickman, Mark Williams and Josh Beardsley.
