DEXTER - Charles Lacy Smith, 66, died March 7, 2002, at the Three Rivers Healthcare North Campus in Poplar Bluff.
Born March 6, 1936, in Dexter, son of the late Elzie Floyd and Helen Winona Coggins Smith, he was a lifelong resident of Dexter. A member of the Sons of the Confederate Army, he was also an amateur ham radio operator.
Survivors include: one daughter, Teresa Carroll of Dexter; three brothers, Sherm Smith and John Smith of Dexter and James "Cotton" Smith of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Edna Harget of Chesapeake, Va., and Donna Kendrick of Poplar Bluff; one grandson, Charles William Carroll of Dexter; and a special friend and caregiver, Jimmy Eakes of Dexter.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, where services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Fred Leist of Dexter will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Hill Cemetery near Bloomfield.
