SIKESTON - Bart Edward Simmons Jr., 68, died June 27, 2007, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center emergency room.
Born July 12, 1938, in Raleigh, Miss., son of the late Bart and Linnie Brown Simmons, he was a member of Grand Avenue 7th Day Adventist Church and was employed at Ferguson Medical Group for 25 years.
He was formerly married to Penny Simmons Whitney who survives.
Other survivors include: one son, Bart Edward Simmons III of Sikeston; six daughters, Shirley Johnson of Clarksdale, Miss., Viola Robinson and Carolyn Nabors of Sikeston, Allison Gardner of Clarksville, Tenn., Patricia Motton of Coloma, Mich., and Lawanda Barnes of Florissant; six brothers, Willie Dean Simmons of Bakersfield, Calif., Handy Simmons of Jackson, Miss., Joe Robert Simmons of Clarksdale, Michael Simmons and Billy Ray Simmons of Tunica, Miss., and James Lewis Simmons of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, Beulah Haslett of Chicago; and 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Visitation will be from noon until time of memorial services at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Courtney Barnes will officiate.
