This letter is asking local businesses for donations to help build a handicap accessible playground for New Dawn State School.

New Dawn State School was built in 976. The existing playground has never met the students' specific needs. We now have 31 students enrolled with severe disabilities.

For the last five years, we have performed several fundraisers, brought in money from our PTO with cake walks, bagged groceries and contacted local clubs including Senate Bill 40 in order to build a handicap accessible playground for all our students. We have raised a little over $30,000 ourselves. However, costs are high and we are in need of at least $12,000 more dollars. All contributions are tax deductible.

The central office of state schools out of Jefferson City will provide the protective surfacing, but all playground equipment will have to be purchased by us.

Little Tykes out of Farmington has been working with us on this project at no charge. If you are interested in making a donation to help our cause, we have large color viewings available of proposed playground renderings.

Should you have any questions or comments regarding our project, please contact Wanda Cashmer. You may reach me at home at 471-4972, by cell at 620-0902, or at the numbers listed below during school hours. Please help us spread the word.

We appreciate anything you can do at this time.

Sincerely,

Wanda Cashmer, PTO Treasurer New Dawn State School 710 Glenn Drive Sikeston, MO 63801-3926 Tel: 472-5360 Fax: 472-5361
